Pool A/ South Africa - USA (64-15): Remember my name

I was watching the final game of the group stages tonight, and I think a new star may have been born.

Takudzwa Ngwenya, remember that name.

The Americans were easily out-gunned in this match by the Springboks, but there was one moment of magic that will long be remembered by those in the audience. More

Pool D/ France - Georgia (64-7): Can History repeat?

What a disappointment for Georgia. After doing themselves proud in their previous three matches, including their first ever World Cup win against Namibia, they then capitulated spectacularly in the face of a marauding French team in the cauldron of noise that is the Stade Velodrome in Marseille. More

Pool B/ Australia - Canada (37-6): Wallabies in good shape

Against Canada we saw a particularly uninspired Wallaby performance, not helped by picking their weakest possible starting XV and conditions that seemed to turn the ball into a bar of soap. More

So just how are France, Argentina or Ireland going to stop the All Black machine?

Pool A/ England - Tonga (36-20) : England ramble on

It looks like England are starting to find their feet in this tournament, after what was, in the end, a fine win over a spirited Tongan side.

This was the ultimate pressure situation for the defending champions, facing a win or bust match against a team that were fresh from almost beating the same squad that demolished England earlier in the group phase. More

Pool A/ Samoa - USA ( 25-21): Out with a bang

This year's Samoan team could hardly be described as vintage, but they have finally managed to endure they go home with at least one win to their name this time around. More

Fantastic, the Georgians have finally broken their World Cup duck by bulldozzing their way through Namibia in Lens.

They have been threatening to make this breakthrough, and it is to the credit of the tournament that new nations are picking up the rugby torch and raising thier level. More

Pool D/ Argentina - Namibia (63-3): Unstoppable

Well that just about wraps things up for Ireland. An easy win for the Argentines with the precious bonus point means that the Irish now need to beat the Pumas with the bonus point for four tries or more (bearing in mind that nobody has touched down against them yet) with Argentina at least eight points adrift. More

Pool A/ England - Samoa (44-22): Hanging on

After all that England are still in the tournament, despite being hard pushed in the face of some uncompromising Samoan tackling.

What a scare for the Springboks, and perhaps some lessons learned by coach Jake White and his team:

Lesson 1: Don't put out a second string side against probably the second strongest team in the group, especially one on the up like Tonga, having just beaten its Pacific neighbours Samoa for the first time in 7 years. More
