Pool A/ South Africa - USA (64-15): Remember my name

I was watching the final game of the group stages tonight, and I think a new star may have been born.

Pool A/ England - Tonga (36-20) : England ramble on

It looks like England are starting to find their feet in this tournament, after what was, in the end, a fine win over a spirited Tongan side.

This was the ultimate pressure situation for the defending champions, facing a win or bust match against a team that were fresh from almost beating the same squad that demolished England earlier in the group phase. More

This year's Samoan team could hardly be described as vintage, but they have finally managed to endure they go home with at least one win to their name this time around. More

After all that England are still in the tournament, despite being hard pushed in the face of some uncompromising Samoan tackling.

What a scare for the Springboks, and perhaps some lessons learned by coach Jake White and his team:

Lesson 1: Don't put out a second string side against probably the second strongest team in the group, especially one on the up like Tonga, having just beaten its Pacific neighbours Samoa for the first time in 7 years. More

The race for second spot in Pool A has suddenly been thrown wide open after Tonga ended seven years of hurt, by beating their Pacific cousins at the tenth time of asking.

How did they do it?

They stood up to be counted in defence and their forwards refused to be forced backwards in contact for the full 80 minutes. More

Outclassed in every department by a superbly organised South African team, and now in real danger of losing out to Samoa in their next match unless they can turn their form around in a hurry. More
